Plane Read 2: _That Night_ by Cyn Balog

I honestly don't know what to say about this book. It wasn't dreadful, but it was dread-filled. So much teen angst, it is exhausting to read. Fortunately, it was a fast read.

Balog uses Gatsby's narrative of self-sacrifice for Daisy to pivot a triangulated love story without ever really delving into the roots of the disenfranchisement of the kids, especially the male characters.  What really struck me is how the extreme sexual frustration the female character was under led to psychopathy up against the framework of religious guilt. And how quickly people can turn on one another. Ultimately, the book left me feeling sad and deflated.
